"Everyone has his or her own set of unique problems and challenges." Said sole caregiver Rick Griffith. Three years after his wife of less-than-two-years was struck with a major stroke at age 44, Griffith says he wouldn't trade places with anyone. Griffith cites fortitude exhibited by second cousin who overcame huge challenges when his young wife died, leaving the firefighter with two young kids to raise on his own. Griffith created a video blog on the third anniversary of her stroke. "It's a way to vent frustrations. it's a way to share experiences and information with others who may be facing similar challenges. "This isn't about me, not about the caregiver. As close as I am to my wife's stroke, I really have no idea how trying it is for her. Got a good idea, but I just can't imagine the frustration level she's experiencing. "Can you imagine not being able to speak? or write? or read? The miscommunication between us is unfathomable." Isabel C. Leyva-Griffith suffered a major stroke on September 1, 2007, at age 44. Her stroke happened at home following the first week of school at Oceanside High School where she taught Spanish since 1999.
