Study on a Coral Reef in Belize This field biology course, emphasizing marine biology, offered by Moraine Valley Community College takes you on an adventure as you travel to Belize, an exotic country in Central America with the worlds second largest barrier reef. Snorkel diverse coral reefs, track exotic fish, corals and a diversity of creatures, journey to island field stations and protected marine reserves, see jaguars in a tropical rain forest, enjoy Caribbean cuisine, and meet local Belizeans. BIO-220 (4 credit hours) ECOLOGY & FIELD BIOLOGY Prerequisites: BIO-111 or consent of instructor. Must be able prove swimming ability through a swim test. Passport that expires after December 31, 2010. This course introduces general ecology. Includes field approach of measuring environmental factors in order to understand the ecosystem concept. Interrelationships of organisms, including humans and their environment, are explored. Field work and field trips are included. Fee is required. (6 contact hours) Note: Satisfactory classroom and field activity participation are mandatory to pass the course.
